In a quiet room behind a church in rural Meru, women sat in a circle. Some held babies, others clutched Bibles. Their stories were different, but their prayers echoed the same: “Lord, do not forget me.”
These women had faced loss, abandonment, sickness, and poverty. But every week, they gathered to pray — not just for themselves, but for each other. They prayed for children, for courage, for a future. And then, one Thursday afternoon, the answer to one of those prayers walked through the door.
It wasn’t dressed like a miracle. It didn’t float or glow. It came as one of our field team members carrying folders and listening ears.
We didn’t preach. We asked. We didn’t promise. We listened.
From that meeting was born a new Women’s Circle Initiative in the area — equipped with business mentoring, emotional counseling, and spiritual discipleship. The women still pray, but now, they plan too. Now, they have hope that walks, breathes, and brings bread home.
One of them, Esther, said, “God heard me. I didn’t know He would send women like me to help me heal.”
And maybe that’s what charity is at its best — prayers answering prayers.
Maybe that’s what you are.
